So, I had no idea that drawing freehand with a mouse isn't the way one normally does things, and sketching before going to digital is pretty normal.
Stop laughing, I haven't taken an art class in 20 years and the last time I was certified in digital art.... oh dear. How did I get so old?
Either way, I got a sketchpad that I can open like a normal notebook and have been playing around for a couple weeks. The result has been far better than expected.

I sketch out all my art by hand because it's easier for me. Then I take a pic of the sketch, load it on my computer and edit it with GIMP.
I've tried completely doing it on the computer but all my lines end up all quirky and wiggly without a chart showing me where to go. :P
